THE SMELL OF THE CROWD

26th February 2010, 19:00-20:45,

This is a free event - please book your free tickets by emailing the Science Museum Dana Centre

Bee Arts are joined by members of the Grand Union Orchestra (GUO) to play and illustrate the art of continuous exhalation, also known as circular breathing. Get insight into this amazing technique featuring live music and new software offering real time visualisations of the musicians' exhalations.

Tony Haynes, (GUO Composer/Director) and musicians Claude Deppa, Andy Grappy and Gerry Hunt give a lively demonstration, discussion and performance about breathing out for extraordinarily long periods of time. Try it yourself in this participatory event, and be prepared to get a bit wet!

What are the advantages in being able to breathe out in this way? Do our lungs get a shot at exchanging gases into our blood or is there some other way of bypassing them completely? Can this technique help artistry?

All these questions and more are answered by the team and the evening concludes with a fantastic and unique improvisation with live circular-breathed music for your pleasure!

We look forward to seeing you there!
